Blog # 2 Shaggy Dog

The Shaggy Dog Stories are amusing and clever and appeal to a broad audience with knowledge of colloquial phrases and terms. They all deal in a comedic setup which builds anticipation and excitement till they deliver the final punchline. The stories seem childish especially the one about the string with a very immature punchline not suitable for high-brow audiences. However, I like this one the best for its' simplicity and for how well those words actually fit together. Although it was funny the "Only Hugh can prevent florist friars" was too big of a stretch for me.

The string story was short and sweet, well organized with repetition to reinforce and build up to the payoff. This can go hand in hand with the structure of a research paper. Throughout your paper you want to constantly reinforce you stance with solid data which can get repetitive but will make for a stronger punchline/conclusion of your analysis.

What kind of writing studies research are you interested in working on?

I am interested in any and all writing studies. I like controversial topics and issues because they put me out of my comfort zone and extending my skills as a writer. I like issues on race, inequalities, violations of rights, and justice. I also like studies on music, movies, literature, and how they shape society.
